Rug Care Guide
A handwoven wool rug is built to last generations — with a little care, yours will outlive us all.
Everyday care
Vacuum gently without the beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Rotate your rug 180° every few months so it wears and fades evenly. Use a rug pad on hard floors — it prevents slipping and extends the rug's life.
Spills
Act fast: blot (never rub) with a clean white cloth. For most spills, a little cold water and mild wool soap is enough. Avoid harsh chemicals and oxygen cleaners — they strip natural dyes.
Deep cleaning
Every 2–4 years, have your rug washed by a professional who specializes in handwoven wool rugs. Avoid steam cleaning and dry cleaning.
Storage
Roll (never fold) around a tube, wrap in breathable cotton — never plastic — and store off the floor in a dry place with cedar or lavender to deter moths.
